You are in About Us : History

DRCET was officially formed in 2004. It is a company limited by guarantee, with charitable status.

This means we are an official scottish charity, with a board of directors – members of the local community who manage DRCET on a voluntary basis.

This board is democratically elected every year by the trust’s members at our Annual General Meeting, so we are completely independent and accountable to the local community.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the trust’s activities, and costs a very reasonable £1 for life - Download membership form. (pdf)

The Dumbarton Road Corridor part of the name broadly refers to the neighbourhoods of Yoker, Scotstoun and Whiteinch – 12 square kilometers of diverse neighbourhoods housing 18,000 people in the West of Glasgow, with Partick to the East, Clydebank to the West, the Forth and Clyde Canal to the North, and the River Clyde to the South.

Environmental Vision

In 2002 these neighbourhoods took part in an "Environmental Vision" – a 20 year plan for long term, sustainable improvement.

The Vision is based on consultation with local people – their hopes, concerns and ideas informed a whole range of suggested changes, developments and initiatives. Not just about grass and trees, the Vision hopes to address environmental, social and economic issues through sustainable development.
