Our Climate Challenge Funded, Scotstoun Kingsway Focus programme brings together a number of innovative projects, a few examples of which are listed below:

Household Food Residue Collections & Composting Programme

Our 2 Recycling Assistants and various volunteers collect food waste from Kingsway Court flats, which is then fed into an onsite composting machine to produce compost for a local community garden.

De’ils on Wheels

Bike Workshop sessions for young people to learn how to maintain their bikes and stay safe when out and about on them.

Glasgow Greenies

Environmental activities with young people led by our Senior Project Officer.

Eco-Schools

Work with local eco school committees on pupil identified environmental initiatives.

WeeFeet (West End Enterprise for Energy Efficiency Today)

Our Volunteering Officer in partnership with COPE is facilitating 15 volunteers to make members of the public aware of the benefits of making their lives more energy efficient.

Scotstoun Community Centre

We are currently working with Heart for Scotstoun and the local community to ensure the purpose built Scotstoun Community Centre is a sustainable, community led project that meets the wants, needs and desires of the local community.

Tudor Trust and the Voluntary Action Fund

DRCET successfully obtained funds from the Tudor Trust and the Voluntary Action Fund to secure the posts of Volunteering Development Officer and Community Involvement Development Officer to assist Heart for Scotstoun to undertake the required training to manage the new Scotstoun Community Centre.
